Xiaomi Redmi 5A, marketed as ‘Desh ka Smartphone’ has been finally launched in India today, after its launch in China in the month of October. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A comes with an entry-level price tag and specifications. The Redmi 5A comes with a price tag of Rs 4,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB internal storage variant while the 3GB RAM/32GB of internal storage version is priced at Rs 6,999. It may be noted that the Redmi 5A 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant is an India exclusive as only 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant is available in China.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be available for sale through Flipkart and Mi.com and Mi Home stores staring from December 7 at 12pm IST and will be available for sale later via Xiaomi’s offline retail partners across the country. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A does not come with a compromise in its hardware specs even though it is an entry-level smartphone. The phone has been designed for the feature phone users who are looking for a better option to switch to a smartphone.
Successor to the Redmi 4A, the Redmi 5A will be available in a plastic body design like the Redmi 4A and will come in Dark Grey, Gold and Rose Gold color variants. The Redmi 5A sports a 5 inch HD IPS display. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor paired with Adreno 308 GPU and clocked at 1.4GHz. The dual-SIM smartphone runs on Android Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box OS and supports 4G.
The Redmi 5A comes with a 13 mega pixel rear camera along with LED flash and in the front, the device comes with a 5 mega pixel camera. The major highlight of the phone is its 3000mAh battery that the company claims will offer a battery life on stand-by on a single charge for a whooping 8 days.
