Finally, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has officially uncovered its two new smartphones named Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus. The device has launched today in Beijing, China. For this, the company held a big event. The important thing about the device is the tow is the first Redmi series phones which come with the full-screen design.
The Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ Display and gives 720 x 1440 pixels resolution. It comes with the aspect ratio of 18:9. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 450 Octa-Core SoC and gives the clock speed of 1.8 GHz. Along with this, the device carries the Adreno 506 GPU. Talking about its camera configuration, the device comes with a 12MP camera on its rear side and also carries an LED flash. On the front, it has a 5MP camera sensor with 1.25 µm pixel size and supported by a Soft-LED flash. The device is running on Android Nougat and MIUI 9 and backed by a 3300mAh battery.
Coming to its pricing, the 2GB RAM + 16 GB ROM model carries a price tag of 799 Yuan which is around $120. Its 3GB RAM + 32 GB ROM model has been priced at 899 Yuan, $135. The sale will begin on Dec. 12 in China through retailers like Xiaomi Mall, Jingdong Mall, Suning Tesco, and Lynx.
Coming to the Redmi 5 Plus, it carries a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display and gives 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. It also comes with 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. The camera configurations are similar to the Redmi 5. The device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery and runs on Nougat OS with MIUI 9.
The 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM model is priced at 999 Yuan ($151). The higher variant of the Redmi 5 Plus, i.e., 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM carries a price tag of 1,299 Yuan ($196). It will go on sale on 12th December.
