South Korean giant Samsung finally unveiled its flip phone, W2018 at a launch event held in, Xiamen China on Friday. The W2018 comes with a premium design and sports dual displays. The company has been launching its W series smartphones since the past ten years to raise charity funds and this new flip phone W2018 is the 10th anniversary edition phone.
Talking about the specifications of the phone, the Samsung W2018 comes with a metal and glass combination body that measures 132.2 x 63.2mm and weighs 246 grams. The back panel of the phone features a Gorilla Glass with zinc alloy biaxial hinge. The phone also features a D-pad and a numeric keypad.
The Samsung W2018 comes with a 4.2 inch Super AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and supports Full HD resolution. The inner display of the phone also features a 4.2 inch display with Full HD display.
The W2018 is powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC that runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. The phone features a 12 mega pixel camera with the world’s first f/1.5 aperture and an Optical Image Stabilization feature. In case of insufficient lighting conditions, the camera will switch to f/2.4 aperture and in dark conditions; the camera will switch to f/1.5 aperture. While in the front side, the W2018 sports a 5 mega pixel camera.
The W2018 will be available in two storage options, one with 64GB of RAM and other with 256GB of RAM. The phone comes with USB-Type C port and is backed by a 2,300mAh battery. The company is providing the W2018 buyers with exclusive concierge services at airport and railway station as well. Besides this, Samsung is also offering free software fixes, phone cleaning and disinfection, screen replacements at very low price.
The W2018 will be available via China Telecom in China and may cost as high as $2,000. We will still have to wait for the exact price of the phone from the company.
