Apple is reportedly working on a project to develop a foldable and flexible display iPhone. Fey days ago some leaked information informed that Apple would introduce a foldable smartphone in the coming year. Now, the latest report has given a solid hint about the Apple’s upcoming foldable smartphone. Recently, the US Patent and Trademark Office has released a patent application which is filed by Apple. The application shows a smartphone carries a foldable display. As per the information, for this Apple has tied up with LG and LG will supply the flexible display.
Among the other companies, Apple also has partnered with LG for display technology. Some reports also show that the company will invest in LG’s plat to develop foldable displays.
As per the patent application, the smartphone display will work as a book, and it can be opened and closed like a book. The application covers all the references like LCD, Micro LED, and OLED.
The application says, “Display may include an array of display pixels formed from liquid crystal display (LCD) components, an array of electrophoretic display pixels, an array of organic light-emitting diode display pixels, an array of pixels formed from crystalline semiconductor light-emitting diode dies (sometimes referred to as micro-LEDs), an array of electrowetting display pixels, or display pixels based on other display technologies.”
It is said that Apple will introduce its foldable iPhone in 2021. Until that time, the company may have adapted to Micro LED screen. It will enhance brightness, saturation and will increase the device power efficiency. To develop Micro LED panels Apple is working with TSMC, the report says. However, till now Apple has not given any information about the foldable iPhone concept. The big news is that Apple’s lead competitor Samsung may release its foldable smartphone in 2018 and will come with an in-folding design.
