HMD Global completed one year of holding the rights to sell Nokia smartphones on December. And now, it looks like there is no looking back for the company as a new report reveals that the company plans to launch the Nokia 9 flagship in January next year to celebrate its one year anniversary.
Also, the report suggests that the Nokia 9 will not be launched alone, but will be launched alongside a second-generation model of the Nokia 8. The Nokia 8 smartphone was launched in the month of September this year. Although the phone arrived with flagship specifications, it still came with a simple design and did not compete with other devices in the market like the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, LG V30 and others.
The new report now speculates that HMD Global may launch the Nokia 9 smartphone to rival the high-end models like Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, LG V30. The speculation hints that the launch event may be held by the Finnish company on January 19. Going by the previous reports, the Nokia 9 may feature a 5.5 inch dual edge curved display with 18:9 aspect ratio and supporting 2K resolution. Both, thee Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 smartphones are said to be customized for the China users.
Both the phones may be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset and are expected to come with a dual rear camera set up. The phones are said to come with the IP67 support, making them water and dust resistant. The company is mostly going to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack in these two smartphones.
As per the existing report, the Nokia 9 may be launched in two storage options. One variant will come with a 6GB RAM/64GB of internal storage while the other may come with an 8GB RAM/128GB of internal storage. The 6GB RAM variant may be priced at 3699 Yuan, which is roughly Rs 36,000 while the 8GB variant may be priced at 4199 Yuan, which is roughly Rs 41,000. There is nothing said about the new Nokia 8 specs in the reports as yet. Thus, one will have to wait for an official confirmation from the company regarding these two phones.
