HMD Global seems to be keeping its promise and has been releasing software updates constantly for the Nokia device owners. Last week, the company had released the Android 8.0 Oreo stable update for its Nokia 8 smartphone and now, the Nokia 6 has received a new update. But the twist in the story is that the new update for the Nokia 6 is not the Android Oreo update.
The newest update for the Nokia 6 carries the build number 00WW_3_72A that weighs a little more than 149MB. The November security patch comes along with the update and. The update also fixes the recent Krack Wi-Fi vulnerability. Apart from this, there are also certain UI enhancements and fix to some stability issues which the software brings along with it.
HMD Global has chosen to remain mum by not revealing anything about the changelog of the update. Even though the update seems to bring changes and bug fixes, it is disappointing to know that the Nokia 66 has not received the Android Oreo software update. There have been reports that the company is soon going to bring the Oreo beta program for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 phones,, but when this would happen is still unclear.
Notably, in November, some of the Nokia 6 smartphones bearing the model numbers TA-1000 and TA-1003 belonging to China and Hong Kong received the November security patch. Before this, the Nokia 6 also received the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update.
We all are familiar that HMD always keeps up to its commitments of rolling out the monthly security updates and the OS updates to its Nokia devices. The company has also recently announced that all the Nokia smartphones in the market would receive two years of software update support. The company had said that the Nokia 6 would receive the Android Oreo update by the end of this year and the Android P update in the year 2018. However, one will have to wait for the final word of the company regarding this.
