Nexus 6 by Motorola, with a 5.9 Inch Display + Finger Print Scanner

Nexus 6

Another day another rumor about something that isn’t any close yet. This time around the spotlight has turned to the 6th generation Nexus device from Google and it seems that Motorola will get it’s chance after HTC, Samsung and LG. While the source for this speculation isn’t as solid as a nail in the floor, it comes from a reputed source so it’s worth looking into. In a recent observation made by the folks over at Android Policea device code-named “shamu” was spotted four days ago through an Android L bug tracker. Now you must think what does it have to do with being a Nexus 6 ? Well it does. Google is in a habbit of giving their Nexus devices fish-related code-names, there was toro, hammerhead, mako, and grouper in the past and now Shamu which is the name of a famous killer whale.

As one must say that doesn’t mean it’s a Nexus 6, the device is running on Google kernel “aosp_shamu-userdebug” which is used for a Nexus making it fairly certain to be running on Android L with a Google Kernal. This all falls in perfect line with the device being the first of it’s kind Nexus Phablet which at this point doesn’t seem to be a surprise as even Apple is planning for a Phablet with a 5.5 Inch Display. Also make a note that this device features a finger print sensor, so that’s new for a Nexus. While the choice will still be yours to buy such a big device, Google might keep the Nexus 5 alive at reduced price (to compensate the age) as an option to those who prefer a 5 Inch Vanilla Droid.

Now we know this isn’t a solid proof nor does it mean that this phone will definitely be there in the future as many devices never even hit mass production but it’s not so hard to believe that Motorola will be given a chance to make a Nexus. Motorola has done an exceptional work with their Moto X and Moto G in the past, so we personally wish to see a Nexus from them, rest assured by Google there will be a Nexus 6 may it not be from Motorola. Also if this device is really the Nexus 6 then we are sure there will numerous leaks that will follow on this subject so stay tuned.
