Android Lollipop may be the prettiest stock android version but it hasn’t been so great in terms of stability and with Google trying to fix it up until now, Lollipop has had some long standing. Fortunately a new OTA (over the air) update is out for everyone’s favorite Nexus, the LG Nexus 5 which will help with the issues in the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release. At this moment it isn’t sure what the small OTA update brings to the table for the Nexus 5, just that it is labeled as a Security & Stability upgrade. The OTA is now showing up on the Nexus 5 devices with Build Number LMY48I, and reports from European and Asian regions are confirmed.
The update weighs a little over 10 Megabytes (MB) and also keeps the Build as LMY48I so it is for sure a maintenance release. At this point it is very early to judge what major changes this OTA brings for Nexus 5 on Android 5.1.1 but considering the Size and Silent arrival you must not expect major changes. If you happen to have a Nexus 5 with Build LMY48I then go ahead and check for the OTA, as you might already know you can do so by Going into Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check For Update
UPDATE : The small OTA rolling out is the Security Patch for “Stagefright” exploit.
Thanks for the Tip Everyone !
