Micromax unveiled the ‘Bharat 5’ smartphone along with the tagline ‘Power of Five’ at the launch event held in Gurugram today. The Bharat 5 is launched just a day after Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5A, marketed as ‘Desh ka Smartphone’. While the Redmi 5A comes with a starting price of Rs 4,999 (Rs 5,999 after a period of time), the Bharat 5 comes at a price tag of Rs 5,555.
The major highlights in the phone are that the Bharat 5 sports a 5 mega pixel camera along with Bokeh Mode and a mammoth 5000mAh battery. The phone will be available for sale via offline channels starting from Tuesday. The Bharat 5 will be available in Black color option.
At the launch event, Micromax announced that the existing Vodafone users will get an extra 10GB of mobile data on any tariff plan that they are using for 5 months. The Bharat 5 supports 4G VoLTE and is somewhat similar in looks to the predecessors with bezels around the display. In the front, the Micromax smartphone sports physical buttons/ keys for navigation at the bottom side, while the top side sports the front shooter and the ear piece.
The Bharat 5 features a 5.2 inch HD display. The phone is powered by a Quad-Core processor that runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. In terms of storage, the Bharat 5 comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Backed by a 5000mAh battery, the phone supports OTG and 500 hours of standby time. The device comes with a 5 mega pixel rear camera along with LED flash and Bokeh mode, while there is a 5 mega pixel camera along with Flash in the front as well.
Notably, Micromax partnered with telecom operators Vodafone and BSNL recently to launch Bharat 2 Ultra and Bharat 1 4G feature phones across the country. The company aims at developing affordable smartphones with its Bharat series in order to switch feature phone users to a smartphone.
