Taiwanese company HTC has begun rolling out the Android Oreo update to the mid-range device, HTC U11 Life in the US. In the month of August, Google had officially rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo OS to Google Pixel and Nexus series phones and Sony was the only company to release the update to its Xperia XZ Premium. But now, HTC has also joined the race and has recently begun releasing the Android Oreo update to the flagship HTC U11.
Presently the update is being rolled out to the unlocked HTC U11 Life devices. But the company has promised that the update will be rolled out for T-Mobile HTC U11 Life soon. Like the previous trend, HTC is rolling out the Oreo update via over-the-air (OTA) in phases. Thus, it will take some days for the update to reach out in all corners of the country. You can check for the update manually in the phone by going to Settings> About Phone> System Update> Check for the update.
Before updating the device, the device owners are suggested to clear some space of around 1.5 GB- 2 GB for getting the update so that there is no interruption during the downloading process. In order to download the update in the HTC U11 device via OTA, first select “Yes, I’m in” option. After this step, the software will be downloaded in your phone. Click on the “Install Now” option. After the software is installed, the phone will restart automatically and finally, you will have the phone updated to the new Android Oreo OS.
The new Android Oreo OS brings about numerous enhancements like extended battery life, more smooth user experience to phones and tablets as well, security improvements via Google Play Protect, faster booting and many more. This update also brings about new features like picture-in-picture mode and smart text selection. The major highlight of the Android Oreo update is the Rescue Party feature that helps the device to recover faster from constant boots.
