Google Nexus 5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is on Hold

Google Nexux Lollipop 5.1

After the official unveiling of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, Google released the Android 5.0 update for the older Nexus devices back in November 2014. The update quickly started showing up on Nexus 5 around the world but it seems to be on hold right now, we don’t exactly know why it’s happening but users have been sending us with queries about the Lollipop update. It is believed that the Nexus 5 devices running on Android 4.4.4 are not showing an Update to Lollipop 5.0 now, we tested this on one of our units and found out that it’s a reality. To make things sure here the Nexus 5 was running on stock 4.4.4 and the Bootloader was locked, but there is no update still.

Like every new android version Lollipop 5.0 has several early release Bugs, some of these were fixed in the 5.0.1 release but some still exist. In order to determine the possibility of a “Regional Issue” we have already seen users from Asia, Europe, Africa & South America complaining about not able to update to Android 5.0 Lollipop via Official OTA. It just might be that Google servers are under intense pressure, hence the update is not reaching certain regions/devices but the other possibility is that the search giant intentionally paused the update in order to release a stable version (maybe Android 5.1).

Have you been troubled by this Issue on your Nexus 5 too ? Let us know in the comments section below and stay tuned for updates on the subject.
